Nik's Stardew Valley Reference Guide
I love that the wiki is so fully detailed, but I got tired of navigating through it constantly to find the info I need.
This page intends to be a gameplay reference guide for the data you'd most often need - NPC schedules, crop details, fish times, building costs, golden walnut locations, etc.
No fancy search required, just use your browser's page searching functionality.
No spoiler tags for quest/secret note/similar type content, you've been warned!
To keep this page light, images are not included.
If something is out of date, or you'd like to add more info, you can contribute on Github.
Main contributions wanted: adding wiki links or internal page links to all items/sections where relevant.

Trinkets
Most trinkets can be dropped by monsters, found in crates and barrels in the Mines, Skull Cavern, and Quarry Mine, or obtained in Skull Cavern treasure rooms. The Magic Hair Gel is the exception, as it can only be purchased from Alex's shop in the Desert Festival.
The player can obtain the same trinket multiple times. Trinkets do not stack. They can be sold at the Adventurer's Guild for 1,000g each.
All Trinkets, with the exceptions of the Basilisk Paw and the Magic Hair Gel, can be re-forged on an Anvil. This randomizes their stats and costs 3 Iridium Bars per re-roll.

Secret Notes
Secret notes can be obtained randomly by clearing weeds, killing monsters, chopping trees, fishing, digging up artifacts, mining stone, resource clumps, or giant crops.
Note: This table only includes the secret notes that lead to rewards of some kind, and only the solution.
Name | Description | |
---|---|---|
Secret Note #10 | Adds the "Cryptic Note" quest to the journal. Reach level 100 in the Skull Cavern, and Mr. Qi will reward you in a cutscene. | |
Secret Note #13 | At 12:00 PM, on day 28 of any season, interact with the bush located above the playground to obtain a Junimo Plush. | |
Secret Note #14 | Behind the Community Center, hidden by the roof, against the wooden fence to the right there is a Stone Junimo statue which can be obtained with a pickaxe or a hoe. | |
Secret Note #15 | The combination for the Mermaid Show in the Night Market (Winter 15-17), from left to right: 1 5 4 2 3 | |
Secret Note #16 | Dig one space using a Hoe to the right of the large boulder north of the Railroad tracks to get a Treasure Chest. | |
Secret Note #17 | Head to the area north of JojaMart next to the river and dig the farthest north tile on the Eastern side to get a Strange Doll (green). Be careful to stand close enough or the item may fall into the river. | |
Secret Note #18 | Go to the Calico Desert and use a hoe on the area to the South West of the bench on the South East area of the map to dig up a Strange Doll (yellow). | |
Secret Note #19 | This is a depiction of 1 Willow Lane with a series of arrows. Starting at the green square depicted, which is directly in front of the door to the house, follow each arrow until the character cannot move anymore. First, walk left until they hit a permanent obstacle. Then walk up until they hit an obstacle, and so on. It will ultimately lead to a solid gold statue of Lewis. | |
Secret Note #20 | This is a depiction of the town square. Starting in the center of the eye in town square, follow the directional arrows until the character hits a permanent obstacle. This path will bring them around town, up across the bridge to JojaMart, and ultimately to a truck parked beside JojaMart. Interacting with the truck will allow the player to speak to a truck driver who requests a Rabbit's Foot. If the player has one in their inventory they can trade it for a Special Charm that permanently increases daily luck. | |
Secret Note #21 | At exactly 12:40 at night, interact with the large bush to the north west of the bridge out of Pelican Town to The Beach. Marnie and Lewis jump out of the bush. | |
Secret Note #22 | Go to the Bus Stop with a Battery Pack, and go west from the bus into The Tunnel. Place the Battery Pack into the box on the wall in the center of the Tunnel to start The Mysterious Qi quest. | |
Secret Note #23 | Reading Secret Note #23 adds the "Strange Note" quest to the journal. To fulfill the quest, go to the Secret Woods between 6am and 7pm with Maple Syrup in inventory to trigger a cutscene in which a Bear shares his special knowledge of berries. This permanently increases the sell price of Blackberries and Salmonberries by 3x. | |
Secret Note #24 | Placing a foraged mineral, gem, or geode mineral in a Junimo Hut will alter the color of Junimos that harvest crops. The Junimos will generally match the color of the mineral, including the changing prismatic color if a Prismatic Shard is used. | |
Secret Note #25 | Fish in the water outside the Spa during spring, summer, or fall to find an Ornate Necklace. While carrying the necklace, talk to Caroline for 50 Friendship points with her or to Abigail for 100 Friendship points with her. |
Journal Scraps
Journal Scraps are found in the same way as Secret Notes, except that they are found on Ginger Island.
Note: This table only includes the secret notes that lead to rewards of some kind, and only the solution.
Name | Description | |
---|---|---|
Journal Scrap #3 | The Slingshot can be used to shoot down and collect a Golden Walnut on the east side of the Volcano. | |
Journal Scrap #4 | The map depicts an area just north of Birdie's hut. Digging here will yield a Quality Bobber and a Golden Walnut. | |
Journal Scrap #6 | The map depicts an area southeast of the Island Farmhouse. Digging here will reveal a Pearl and a Golden Walnut. | |
Journal Scrap #9 |
On rainy days a Mermaid will appear on the large rock by the shore. If the player places Flute Blocks and tunes them to play the Mermaid's song, she will reward them with 5 Golden Walnuts. To play the Mermaid's song, place a Flute Block on top or below each set of stones on the shore, then tune each block by the amount of stones. A large stone symbolizes 5, and a small stone symbolizes 1. After tuning all 5 blocks, simply run past each one from left-to-right. Note that the player does not need to have read the journal scrap to do this. Tuning guide: 1 = 2 clicks, 2 = 11 clicks, 3 = 9 clicks, 4 = 5 clicks, 5 = 7 clicks |
|
Journal Scrap #10 | After finding Journal Scrap 10, digging at the spot shown outside the Volcano will yield an Ostrich Egg and a Golden Walnut. |
